A year ago this month, Splurge! Magazine started down a new road, one with new ownership and new direction under Inspired Koncepts, the media company formed by then-new owners Dr. Terry and Jody Klein, Dr. Dennis and Ann Ross and Dr. Tom and Kim Klein. The magazine is now celebrating a successful year of publishing Splurge! “Anniversaries are a time to celebrate and are symbolic of success,” said Jody Klein. “This is an opportunity for all of us to reflect back over the year and really express our appreciation and heartfelt thank you to all of our advertisers, as well as our loyal readers.”
Inspired Koncepts has even more reason to celebrate. Last month, the targeted media company merged with VYPE-High School Sports Magazine and then purchased two additional publications including the Wichita Hi-Lighter and Spotlight on Wichita. The acquisition of the magazines restructures Inspired Koncepts. Mike Cooper, owner and publisher of VYPE and Wendell Funk, former vice president of advertising at the Wichita Eagle have all joined Inspired Koncepts in various roles. Funk will serve as the president of Inspired Koncepts and Cooper as director of operations overseeing all the publications and Jody Klein will serve as the publisher.
Klein said that the decision to grow Inspired Koncepts was always the plan. “Since my association with Splurge!, I have always had the vision to make it the premier fashion and lifestyle magazine of Wichita, as well as expanding into other markets.”
That vision just completed phase one. Klein said once Funk joined forces everything seemed to fall into place for Inspired Koncepts. “Once he became our president, things just started happening overnight. Then the partnership with Vype solidified. Now, we have four publications under Inspired Koncepts.”
This merging of the four magazines will also be a bonus for advertisers as they will have the option to advertise between the magazines for more impact with their advertising dollars. “This company is bigger now and we are making wiser decisions and I know that we will fulfill the advertising needs of virtually every business,” said Klein.
The four magazines, while different in editorial content, are all publications that highlight positive information in the community. Splurge! will continue to publish on a monthly basis. The Hi-Lighter will publish its next edition in May and continue to publish every two months. Spotlight on Wichita will publish on once a year. Vype is a monthly publication.
“There is just so much potential when you merge everything together,” said Funk. |
